This was an idea I had for a big bass sound without sacrificing the benefits of six string sound which is vastly different than a six steel string baritone guitar which does not offer the same tops due to the gauge of strings etc.
Rad Brashaw 7 steel String Acoustic: Year 2003 serial # 0307104 model j7 all woods are the same as the 6 Steel String Acoustic, Canadian Big Leaf Quilted Maple back & sides
Neck: rock maple
Fingerboard: ebony
Headstock: Ebony laminated to Rock Maple
Machine heads: Grover
An apex bracing was crafted, catering for the heavy tension ( 70 to 13 guage ) strings providing strength to bridge & top without compromising the integrity of the tops acoustic properties.
Abalone shell rosette, white & black binding, bone saddle & nut. Fishman Magnetic Soundhole Rare Earth Blend Humbucking Pickup with Internal Mini AKG Cardioid Condenser Microphone on a Gooseneck.
Active electronics and neodymium magnet structure flexible cardioid microphone and Mic/Pickup blend control, miniature batteries mount on the underside of the pickup.
I have adapted the battery compartment to fit two AA 1.5 Volt Batteries which are more commonly available than the flat type that come with the pickup which I find cumbersome to change in that the pickup has to be taken out each time and the mounting fixtures can be fragile, although I have since machined and modified the pickup mounting system.
Low current design of the preamp allows up to 150 hours between battery changes
Ergonomic body shape
Pre-wired output jack can also be endpin mounted
Easy installation with no alteration - plug-and-play out of the box
